My 1-series made a friend at the grocery store! 1984 Fiero Indy 500 “Pace Car”. Manual transmission. Filthy. Poor, neglected Fiero.
Would you say this picture is Out of Touch?
On this day in 2009, General Motors announced it would discontinue the 83 year-old brand. No more iconic muscle cars like the Trans Am or GTO. No more quirky little cars like the Fiero or the Solstice. But at least we got the sweet relief in knowing that Pontiac’s demise meant we didn’t have worry about the Aztek…
Of course, as soon as I agree to buy my friends truck, interesting cars start showing up.
SO far I have taken out and replaced 4 engines. A 69 Sprite, 87 Fiero, 64.5 Mustang (no pics), and a ‘69 Bronco
Here is my whole list of cars I have owned from 16 to 25 (current 12/18)
Too perfect to not park next to him at the car show last weekend. They’re pretty much the same car, right?
In the same way that the 914/Boxster could never be as fast/powerful as the 911, the Fiero was held back at the starting gate and forced to run on 3 legs...but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a fast Fiero today.
This is probably the nicest Fiero I've ever seen. It was for sale, but the day after it disappeared.
Help me, Oppo-Wan. I am totally in the dark about Fieros; I remember them from when I was a kid, but all I know now is some murmurings about engineering shortcomings, and the fact that I can’t recall seeing one in years.
It’s #FieroFriday, Oppo! Time to look at everyone’s favorite second favorite third favorite cheap mid-engined 80s wedge. It’s the ‘88 GT you want, right? That’s the one with the revised suspension geometry, V6, and a five speed. It’s also the least sold version. Here’s a cheap one. Sure, it hasn’t been registered in…
Finally got it in! Been looking for one I could afford for a while, so when this popped up on eBay for $800 I jumped on it:
Here’s a Fiero! Ugly, pictures ironically taken at a “detail station,” manuel, and unassisted steering in a mid-engined package with popup headlamps that runs for really cheap. So it’s no MR2, but I bet it’s still a riot. I wish I had enough space to save all of the mid-engined 80s wedges.
Here’s Pontiac’s 1988 Advertising Promo in full, with an amazing 80’s soundtrack and it’s basically the greatest thing ever.
